What started as a simple ode to the forgotten prom dress over 20 years ago magically took a life of its own one night at the flea market. Junk-O-Rama Prom has become a cultural crossroads of sights and sounds and people. And, we firmly believe, the happiest place on Earth for one breath-taking evening in Texas. Under the big ol’ southern stars you will find a celebration for all ages and all walks of life … an evening where (like in Luckenbach) everybody truly is somebody!

This evening that culminated out of not much more than a pile of dusty old prom dresses and our desire to just have fun, has become something that we are just happy to be a part of! There’s been star-studded guests (Miranda Lambert, Rachel Ashwell, Kacey Musgraves, and rumors of Willie Nelson!), it’s been featured by Country Living magazine, the Today Show , and by a University of Texas film student documentary & more!

“There are some things I know for certain: always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and fall in love whenever you can.” And there’s something else we know for certain, the movie Practical Magic speaks right to our hearts, maybe it’s because we refuse to grow up or maybe it’s because we will always believe in magic… or maybe it’s because we believe in star shaped pancakes. But there’s something about the sisterhood of the movie that speaks to us.

So once a year, we all grab our best brooms, dust off our favorite witch hats and wear our most fabulous costumes all to pay tribute to Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic which starred Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock (Jolie refers to her as Sandy, bc all her best friends do!)

From outlandishly embellished witch hats, to striped sequined tights, to even an occasional Sanderson Sister sighting, fall prom is quite the event to see! Imagine a sea of witches as far as the eye can see, all reveling in their night to shine, to conquer evil and of course, dance the night away. Maybe even with a midnight margarita in hand!

So come join us and experience the power of sisterhood, the power of women in amazing dresses, and don’t forget to wear your best witch hat! Aunt Frances might have said it best, “My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage.”
