Miranda Lambert big loud texas
DATE: 2025
LOCATION: Austin, Tx
It all started with a phone call from our longtime friend, Miranda Lambert. She told us she was launching her very own record label, Big Loud Texas, and she needed the space to feel country, rock 'n roll, and all Miranda. So, of course, we said YES.
Wander Inn
The Wander Inn was truly a moment for us to showcase some of the items we’ve held onto for years. A space for us to pay homage to Texas culture and design, and a space for us to put down some “design” roots that weren’t as much of a revolving door as our store is.
We used a lot of what we already had. We used vintage carved Mexican headboards, retro hotel signage, vintage kilim rugs, and glorious chandeliers. The style here is wanderlust meets cattle drive. It’s cowgirl chic meets whimsy. It’s fun, and it’s not too perfect for you to put your feet up and stay awhile.
Thelma's Garage
Thelma’s Garage is our spirit animal. This little garage rehab has ended up being one of our favorite things we’ve ever done. Our goal was to pay tribute to the true spirit of Thelma & Louise and the writer Callie Khouri (who happens to be a Texas girl!). The space has a dark, moody industrial chic feel with a heavy dose of vintage finds and one-of-a-kind projects.
From vintage carousel light bars hanging overhead to a full wall mural of Brad Pitt, to handmade chandeliers made out of old tire inner tubes (that look more like black leather) to our double bath tubs, the space feels unlike anything we’ve done before. We wanted it to feel like you’re rollin’ down one of those lost highways with the wind in your hair, best friend riding shotgun, leaving all your cares behind, and we kind of think it does.
Neverland Cowgirl Airstream
In the middle of all this Airstream mayhem, we found a little time to throw together a mother-daughter boho hideaway for Amie and her then 2-year-old daughter, Indie. We took a defunct 1978 Airstream Land Yacht, added some old furniture we had in the warehouse, and poured a whole jar of glitter into pink metallic paint. We added in vintage pink hued rugs, handmade details, and made homemade curtains out of leftover velvet.
The result: a Neverland playhouse on wheels for a mother and her baby girl.
Miranda Lambert’s Rolling Speakeasy Airstream
After a hard nine years on the road Miranda's original Airstream was in need of a makeover. This time she was officially the headliner, a boss babe who deserved a swanky speakeasy on wheels, and we wanted to give her old Airstream a new design that still felt whimsical, but more mature, reflecting where she’d been over the last nine years.
So we gutted what was left of what we’d done 9 years earlier, channeled inspiration from the new tour “Livin' Like Hippies” and started fresh. We used dusty pink velvets, chocolate dip-dyed flapper fringe, faux snakeskin, and reclaimed floors. The end result was some that felt like a sultry, whiskey-soaked cowgirl dream.
Dierks Bentley’s Americana Troubadour Airstream
Dierks Bentley wanted an Airstream that brought together the two most important things in his life. He wanted it to be one part songwriter/troubadour lair and one part camping hideout for him and his family. So we did our due diligence, listened to hours of Dierks’ music, scoured vintage stores for pieces that fit the vibe and used a ton of salvage pieces. The standout pieces to us with this Airstream is the resin booth table made out of Hatch Show Prints and a Grand piano pedal board, flanked by a salvaged pew turned booth seats. Also, let’s not forget one of the main characters here is the Ralph Lauren metallic blue paint we used in the bedroom. It will always be one of our favorite spaces.
Billie Joe Armstrong’s Zen Surf Shack Airstream
We started this project for Green Day’s front man with a scrap of paper he found on the street one day, it said “Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love” – Rumi. These words, which Billie Joe now has tattooed on this chest, led us down a path of discovery with this Airstream. This project was commissioned by Billie Joe’s wife, Adrienne, as a 20th wedding anniversary present, so there was no room for error. We wanted this to be the most streamlined trailer we’d ever done, with vintage reclaimed flooring and a 150-year-old Indian temple piece for the bed nook. We created surfboard holders out of hand-tooled leather straps, and repurposed vintage tire shop signs (“alignment”) as dual messages for the sofa skirting. In the end, we like the think the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Famer, Billie Joe, is holed up along the California coast, unassumingly, in his tiny Airstream writing his next Grammy award-winning hit inside a space we created.
Miranda Lambert & Blake Shelton Wedding
In 2011 we created a wedding reception for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton. It was undeniably one of the biggest weddings country music has ever seen. As the paparazzi helicopters swirled overhead we sat back and watched as country music stars like Reba, Kelly Clarkson, Martina McBride, Lady A, and Dierks Bentley, to name a few, meandered in and out of the country music wonderland we had created.
From custom designed neon firefly jars, to powder coated hot pink 1950s chairs for the trailer court outside, from the 100 chandeliers overhead to the metallic silver chesterfield chairs, this was definitely not a “normal” wedding reception, but it was perfect for Miranda and Blake and that’s all that mattered.
The Patchwork Fireplace
When our parents were moving into their new house we wanted their fireplace to be something unique. So we combined 100 year old Mediterranean encaustic tiles with huge carved corbels reclaimed from a Texas mansion to create a truly unique patchwork fireplace.
Christmas stockings never had it so good!
Redneck Red carpet Sweet Sixteen
Because we aren’t too impressed with ourselves to have fun, we get called on to do some pretty crazy projects from time to time! This has to be one for the record books! The Redneck Red Carpet Sweet Sixteen party for Sadie Robertson. We had a lot of fun throwing glitter for this event, heck we even glittered gold toilets and used them as planters. We glittered about a hundred duck decoys to create super campy chandeliers and created custom table runners out of thriftstore jeans and even set the cake up behind a vintage car grill that had smoke coming out from under the hood.
Scotty McCreery took the haybale adorned stage and sang happy birthday while we all sweet tea from mason jars. One of the highlights of this event was the old sofa we painted white and set it up with Sharpies for the party guests to sign all night long.
Jolie’s Turquoise Cabinets
We like to refer to these as our most-pinned pin of all time. Not only that, the year these were featured in Country Living magazine, they were their most pinned pin and then HGTV/GAC went onto pin, and yes, you guessed it, their most pinned pin.
Farmhouse simple, yet breathtakingly bold, these are the “No Guts, No Glory” cabinets. These cabinets could have been the best of times or the worst of times, luckily for us they turned out beautifully. These maple cabinets that Jolie decided to stain with a Sherwin-Williams semi-transparent stain, in Aquarius, ended up being the most amazing thing about her kitchen.
And yes, the 19 foot retro Restaurant sign doesn’t hurt, but the cabinets were born to shine.
Amie's House Design
We found a early 1900's farmhouse on the side of the road, she was a tad disheveled, rough on the inside and out. So we decided to take her home. We hired house movers to load her up, and made it Amie & Indie's Little Pink storybook house.
