GET LOST WITH US.

Wander inn

The Wander Inn found us, I guess you’d say. We weren’t in the market to buy an inn, nor had the thought ever crossed our minds. But then when it happened, we realized it was the one thing we never knew we needed. And it has been the perfect addition to truly tell the Junk Gypsy story.

Over the past few years since the Wander Inn found us, we've been trying to get it perfect for our Junk Gypsy family of customers and fans across the globe. Being lifelong travelers ourselves we’ve learned a thing or two about what we like, so we sat in the rooms and envisioned our perfect combination of elements, amazing décor, piles of books and records, roadside treasures, great showers, gorgeous bedding, rooms with a view and of course, a place that has a story to tell. A hotel you will call home.

And then we thought about the land that rolls up to the porches of the inns, the land that has many, many stories to tell. Stories of the Independence Trail that was part of the Texas Revolution, where Sam Houston marched with his men through these very fields, and we thought about the great American cattle drives that rambled through Texas, the Chisholm Trail, the Goodnight-Loving Trail and the spirits of all the cowboys and cowgirls that traversed those passages, and we thought about the history of the Round Top Antique Show that’s graced our highways for over 50 years, and the trail of wildflowers that is an essential part of any road trip through Central Texas, and the Native Americans that once lived here who were said to have felt that they were allowed to live here in this enchanted land by the“grace of the Great Spirit”. . . and we took all of those elements and we tried to craft a place that tells those stories, honors the history and carries on the Junk Gypsy spirit

The Wander Inn is not about luxury, it’s about the land, and the road, and the experience of Round Top. It’s about the simple things—decked out with a few velvet sofas and a bit of glittery wall decor. It's a place where you can dream. A place where you can explore. A place where you can meet kindred spirits and rejuvenate your creative soul.

We’ve housed film crews and filmed 3 seasons of our show for HGTV, GAC and Facebook here on the property, we’ve been a veritable "halfway house" for vagabond junk dealers, traveling musicians, itinerant cowboys, rogue camper caravans and our some our gypsy friends hell bent on wandering. We've designed our Pottery Barn collection here and hunkered down and wrote our book, which is the reason the subtitle became “at the crossroads of wonder & wander”. We even welcomed our friend Miranda Lambert, and became a part of the magic that is "the weight of these wings" ... and, all this, our wild-eyed gypsy friends, has helped us create the Wander Inn.

It is a place that feels right, it's a place where all the magic that's passed through these doors over the past few years has settled into the floorboards like well-traveled, world-weary glitter. It’s a place of salvation and creation and a place that we can't wait to welcome you into. So travel to Round Top, population 90, and slow down for a weekend with us in our boutique hotel.

The Wander Inn found us . . . and here, we hope you find yourself.

WELCOME TO ROUND TOP, TEXAS

We stumbled into this little town of Round Top for the first time almost 18 years ago for the twice yearly Texas Antiques Week . . . years later we decided to make it our home. Because not only did the dust (and the glitter) of the fleamarket stick to the soles of our boots, the magic of Round Top settled in our hearts. So we decided to put down some gypsy roots. It seemed crazy then. And to some, it still seems crazy. Moving to, and putting a business in a town population 90. But at the end of the day, we knew that we didn’t just want to be in the country, we HAD to be in the country. We wanted our family to be in the country. We wanted Junk Gypsy to be in the country, where she belonged. And we needed less concrete and more trees. Less traffic and more cows. Less sirens and more stars. We needed a community. We were searching for Mayberry. And we found it.

Some say there’s a certain “Round Top magic” that spins and twists its way through your heart and soul when you are here. and we believe it’s true.

We believe it’s something you feel just passing through for the day or staying for a few nights.

There’s a beautiful, sweet magic that rests atop the pastures in the early morning sunrise as the cows are grazing. And since Round Top is in one of the darkest counties in the State of Texas, there’s a thick, sparkly magic in the stars at night, making for some of the most amazing stargazing you’ll find. And if you’re here for Antiques Week, there’s simple magic in the hunt for that perfect, elusive treasure that’s bound to go home with you. Or if you’re here during the rest of the year, there’s an old-fashioned magic to slowing down on our country roads and seeing our vast collection of Texas farmhouses, eating homemade apple pie at Royer’s Cafe, getting lost in the gardens at Festival Hill, and digging for a treasure or two at our store or one of the many others in town.

So what can we say . . . we love Round Top . . . hook, line and sinker we bought into every little piece of magic. So come stay with us and slow down in Round Top . . . 90 folks can’t be wrong.

See ya down the blacktop!

Thelma's Garage is our newest addition to the Wander Inn property, located next to the Gypsy Farmhouse. This super spacious area (576 sqft) was the original garage to the Farmhouse, we've taken it and given it a vibey make-over. Our goal was to pay tribute to the true spirit of Thelma & Louise and the writer Callie Khouri (who happens to be a Texas girl!). The space has an industrial chic feel with all the JG touches that make it feel inviting. We've worked really hard on the lighting, the decor and all the little details. It feels like you're rollin' down one of those lost highways with the wind in your hair, best friend riding shotgun, leaving all your cares behind.

We've covered the walls in oversized murals and reclaimed ceiling tins and old beadboard. The room features two queen beds in plush bedding, and a "daybed" style sofa that would accommodate an additional guest. The luxury bathroom features double tubs so bring your swimsuit (or not) and lounge out with your favorite gal pal with a glass of wine and tell all the tall tales! It also features a reclaimed French sink, and a custom made shower . . . and oh, did we mention Brad Pitt?

The room features tons of custom design features by the Junk Gypsies, and loads of unique vintage features like the retro-fitted circus lights over the beds. There is a record player with a selection of vintage vinyls, a bar area where you can mix whatever your heart pleases! Also there is a studio fridge, Keurig coffee pot, and you will be served hot biscuits to your doorstep! Also you have a brick patio with rocking chairs and soon the fire pit will be finished! So grab your favorite partner-in-crime and come get lost with us for a weekend!

You also have access to our outdoor areas (65 acres), gas firepits, adirondack chairs, bicycles & stock tank Cowboy Pools!
